About A Chair AAC 16

With its clean, curved lines and slim, symmetrical legs, About A Chair AAC 16 retains the same minimalistic qualities as the rest of the collection. Designed with flexibility and functionality in mind, the four legs are positioned under the seat at a rounded angle to frame the upright, organic shell for optimal comfort and stackability. The base is available in powder coated steel or chrome, with the post-consumer recycled plastic shell offered in a wide palette of contemporary colours and multiple front upholstery options. The multitude of variants and design combinations give this series a versatile expression that makes it suitable for a wide variety of corporate, private, and public contexts.

About A Chair / Designer

Hee Welling is a Danish furniture designer who founded his own studio in Copenhagen in 2003. The son of a cabinetmaker, Welling’s fascination with production techniques, materials, and machinery was fired as a child. He went on to study at The University of Art and Design in Helsinki, and received his master’s degree in furniture design from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Centred around the idea of creating technically accomplished products that can reach a wide audience, his designs are characterised by a great sense of proportion and quietly elegant aesthetics.

Welling has received a number of design awards, including the Bo Bedre Award (Denmark), Good Design Award (USA), and has been nominated as Danish designer of the year in 2013 and 2014. For HAY, Welling has designed the About A series and the Hee Collection.
